Static Rain

A drop of rain
Plinks off steel,
Slides down drop cloth,
Slaps the sidewalk.

A thousand times a second
With a loud hush,
A soft roar,
Static washes over.

A shock of white noise
Sings past bone.
Stillness in motion
Vibrates the mind.
