The Stars Below

A lotus sits atop the waves
Stars ripple across the sea.
I see them now for what they are:
Way-finding gods’ journeys

Two hands plunged deep into briny sky
Toward this stellar keep
Light scatters past their grasping arms
Desire disturbs the deep

A softened breath, a quiet pause
Patient and serene
Once fractured light returns to focus
Two hands turn palms slowly

A shimmer of light then makes its home
Between the outstretched palms,
Fingers weave to gently cradle
Cupped water holding alms

I hold this glowing treasure,
Palms brought side by each,
Two cupped hands held together
Brought to my lips to drink

The water, fresh and sparkling,
light flows past my teeth,
It shines still from the heavens,
within me, and beneath.
